Take Courage
Joshua 1:9
Be strong and courageous! Do not tremble or be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.
Over the last year, many of us have experienced a fear we have never known. If not fear, maybe being unsure and worrying about what the future holds. On the edge of the promised land, following the death of a mighty leader, Joshua may have felt the same way. Moses had
passed and the Israelites needed a new leader. The Lord had just told Joshua that he was that new leader and would lead an entire nation into a land already occupied which meant one thing: war.
Maybe our current battle isn’t the same. Not a battle in the way we think anyway. Maybe our battle is stress, anxiety, and fear. Maybe we’ve lost jobs, homes, or even worse, loved ones during this time. Theone comfort in all of this is in this verse: the Lord your God is with you wherever you go. Psalm 139 says He knows when we sit and when we stand, that He is aware of all our ways.
In times of uncertainty, there is one thing we can be absolutely certain of, and that is God is right there. He is there in your grief, in your anxiety, in your worry, in your loss. He’s also there in our happiness! He sees you and He loves you!
Jeremiah 29:11 says “For I know the plans I have for you, plans to give you hope and a future”. That is not only God’s plan but His promise!
Be encouraged!
