Better Together
Ecc. 4:12 [CSB]
“And if someone overpowers one person, two can resist him. A cord of three strands is not easily broken”
I remember a movie from the 90’s called “Airheads.” This movie features a band trying to catch their big break. The band receives snickers from all the record executives because their name is “The Lone Rangers.” The execs. ask “How can you be lone, there’s three of you?”
I think we all know a little bit about this. Have you ever felt like you are going it alone, even though you are in a group or a crowd? We have all of these devices and portals that are meant to keep us “connected” but more often than not we feel more disconnected than ever before.
Life is meant to be lived out in community. We are made for relationship; first with God and second with each other.
When we find deep, meaningful relationships and community we are stronger. Everyone needs a positive support system – and not all support systems are positive.
Take a moment and conduct a relational inventory of your life. Who’s on your team? Who do you have deep, meaningful relationships with? I encourage you to start building these relationships in your life. If you already have them, then invest in strengthening them. One of the best ways to develop a positive support system is through a local church. Churches aren’t always perfect, but that’s because they are filled with imperfect people. However flawed they may be, they are still the best place to find meaningful relationships with those who will pray for you and pray with you.
I challenge you to find community with God and with others. We are better together.
Prayers/Thoughts for today:
- Am I strengthening my relationship with God by talking with Him and meditating on His word?
- Am I investing in the positive relationships in my life and turning away from the negative relationships?
