Desert and Oasis
Psalm 143:6
I spread out my hands to You;
I thirst for You like a parched land.
You know, sometimes it’s difficult to see what God is doing through a time in our lives when we feel like we’re living in a desert. Things at home or work are hard. Relationships are strained. And we literally feel like nothing is going our way. It’s exhausting! And we have all felt this way.
But the truth is, we can’t always see the big picture. Oh, we try. But the desert is dry, scalding hot in the light, freezing cold in the dark, and full of strange, unfamiliar things.
That’s how desert seasons in our lives feel.
But these aren’t times when God isn’t close. These are the times that He is standing by with bottomless pitchers of living water, ready and willing to pour them into our lives – so we can soak up His presence, grace, and mercy. God sees the desert as the perfect place to fill you up! You see, He often wants to fill us….but we are already full. But not in the desert! In the desert, we are empty and ready for Him to fill us up to the brim. This verse encourages us to thirst for God like parched land.
Do you feel parched? Dried out and worn? God is just about ready to start pouring! Are you willing to receive? Soak up more of Him?
Get ready! Your desert just might be the luxurious oasis you didn’t see at first glance.
